Chapter 18 – The Dragon Hoard
El Patron has a heart attack and Matt is cleaned up and hurried to the hospital. Matt wants to question Tam Lin about his actions as a terrorist. El Patron survives thanks to a “piggy back heart” and Matt is not neared.
El Patron angrily reacts to Matt’s suggestion that he’d feel better if he gave help to the poor. Tam Lin describes El Patron’s “dragon hoard;” his treasure that he intends to be buried with.

1) Celia said that the farm patrol was evil and that they were "creatures of the night." Matt had met them and they were actually nice, normal seeming people.

3) Celia is rushing Matt to the hospital because El Patron had a heart attack.
4) When he enters the hospital, Matt gets a needle and gets put on a stretcher. Then he begins hallucinating.
5) While hallucinating, Matt sees Tam Lin praying, which is strange for him.
6) A child provided El Patron with a donor heart.
7) Matt wanted to ask Tam Lin how he felt about killing 20 children and why he got angry at him for supposedly killing Furball when he had done something worse.
8) El Patron is 148 years old.
9) “In the end they’re only rocks” means that the diamonds that El Patron has are only rocks in the end, that they don't have meaning anymore.
10) El Patron became enraged at the idea that he should give things away.
11) A dragon hoard is a hoard of things that a dragon or a greedy person collects. Tam Lin tells the story because El Patron has a dragon hoard.

They are rushing to the hospital, because El Patron had a heart attack.

11. A dragon hoard is all the treasures a dragon has collected throughout it's life. Tam Lin told Matt about it so he would know about the place where El Patron keeps his treasures.
